Winter Sowing is a cheap and easy way to start seeds as early as January or February in recycled containers such as milk jugs and soda bottles. This hands on workshop is fun, and for all ages.
Come and learn the basics of winter seed sowing at this family friendly ninety minute workshop. Librarian and long-time Master Gardener, Julie Rand, will walk you through the steps involved in winter seed sowing; from container and seed selection to transplanting. We'll plant some seeds in milk jugs which you can take home and put outside to get a head start on spring planting.
If you can, bring a clean milk jug or clear soda bottle to use for seed starting, however, we will have a limited number of containers available for those who don't have one. If you have any perennial or hardy annual seeds you'd like to use, please bring those as well.
Families are welcome but children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian.
Advance registration is required.
