Join us for our first watch party where we will view episodes 1 and 2 of Netflix's show, "Raising Dion" (PG)!
Netflix, Amazon’s Prime Video, and Hulu’s video streaming services have recently started amplifying Black stories in response to the nation’s current state of racial injustice and the need to lean into anti-racism work, but many of their highlighted movies and TV shows are for an older crowd.
Our hope is to highlight new or different stories that aren't often shared, to promote positive representation, and to spark meaningful and age appropriate conversation around issues of racial equity and social justice.
This specific watch party is aimed at ages 8 and up, and we encourage adult participation as well! After the showing we will share questions to encourage further discussion.
Registration is open to Evanston residents and/or District 65 students. Be sure to include your email when registering, as you will receive the Netflix Party invite through your email.
Technology needed: Netflix account + Netflix Party + a desktop or laptop computer.
However, in an effort to make this program accessible to those who don't have a Netflix account, we are now offering a limited number of registrants the ability to connect to this digital streaming service during our program. Just make sure after you register, to email cfrancellno@cityofevanston.org, in order to get the Netflix information you need to be able to participate in the watch party.
(If the program becomes full and you wish to have access to the discussion questions and resources, email your request to cfrancellno@cityofevanston.org)
