The Evanston Public Library Science Fiction & Fantasy Book Group will meet online, via Zoom, to discuss Monstress, Book 1, by Marjorie Liu, illustrated by Sana Takeda.

You do not have to appear via video if you don't want to - you can join using audio and chat only, if that is your preference. This month, the group will be discussing Monstress, Book 1, by Marjorie Liu, illustrated by Sana Takeda. You can read a free copy of this book online via Hoopla. Note that you want BOOK 1, issues 1-18, not VOLUME 1, which only has issues 1-6. (You will need your Evanston Public Library card to sign up for Hoopla, if you have not done so already. If EPL is not your home library, check with the library that originally issued your card to see if they offer Hoopla as well.)
About the book:
In the first book of this award-winning graphic novel series, a teenage girl struggles to overcome the trauma of war in an alternate, matriarchal 1900s Asia that's brimming with arcane dangers. This task is made all the more difficult by her mysterious psychic link to an eldritch monster of tremendous power-a connection that will transform them both, and place them in the crosshairs of both human and otherworldly powers.
