Learn the basics of birdwatching so you can start enjoying this relaxing fun hobby. The Zoom link will be sent out 24 hours before the event.
After a long winter and endless days of quarantine, it's time to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. Birdwatching is fun, safe and easy and this program on beginning birdwatching will help get you started.
Did you know the Chicago area is a birdwatcher’s paradise? Fun fact: Every spring and fall, hundreds of species of birds pass through Chicago on their ancient migratory routes. Many of these birds can easily be seen in our local parks, and Evanston's lakeshore is a great place to view migrants. Heck, some of them might even spend a few days right on your block or even in your own back yard.
In this session, Chicago birdwatcher and photographer, Scott Judd, will provide all the information you need to start finding and identifying birds right here in our beautiful urban paradise. In a fun, informal and easy-to-understand style Scott will address such questions as: Do I need binoculars? Where should I look? How will I know what I’m looking at? Can I identify a bird based on its song? What if I want to take pictures? Are there any online resources I can access to learn more? There will even be time to ask questions, so fear not.
Have you caught birding fever yet? Register for the 90 minute program and we will send you the Zoom link 24 hours before the event. Registration closes 2 hours before the start time of 7 pm.
