Finding inspiration in Nature and using elements found outdoors, we will make paintbrushes and use them to paint our own paper bags and cards.
Inspired by Barbora Kurcova's 52 Nature Craft Projects : Inspiration for Every Week of the Year we will create a zero waste craft using elements found in nature and natural materials around our home.
On the Winter edition, we will use nature as our paintbrush! We'll be using gathered materials, such as
... to paint! Bring in your paper shopping bags to turn them into a custom gift bag or use some card stock to make a one-of-a-kind card. We will also have large format paper for those who prefer to experiment with different materials and textures.
Where can you find materials for this workshop? Take a Winter Nature Walk!
If you can, we suggest that you go for a Nature walk around your home, paying attention to any fallen pinecones, twigs, dried leaves, seeds and small stones. There is more than snow and ice out there! Here are some walking trails around Evanston.
Take any elements from the ground you think can work and bring them to the workshop. We will use twine to make your findings into painbrushes that you can use to decorate a paper bag or card stock.
No worries if you cannot find your own materials! We will have some twigs, twine, dry leaves, flowers, feathers and evergreens for you to use, as well as paper bags and card stock.
The Robert Crown Branch Library, located inside the Robert Crown Community Center, was opened in early 2020 to extend library services out into walking distance of some of Evanston's most diverse and historically underserved neighborhoods. The branch features a computer bar, laptop loaning, study rooms and a community meeting room, an expanded Spanish-language collection and bilingual staff, an outdoor reading garden, and dozens of programs each month for children, teens and adults.
