Why short-term guardianship for children?
Parents need a safety plan if they become unable to care for their child. For example, a short-
term guardianship will support a single-parent who requires hospitalization or parents who plan
to travel abroad. A short-term guardianship lasts 1 year or less and allows a parent to appoint a
trusted adult to take responsibility for their child if the parent is unable to provide care.
Why expunge your criminal record?
Criminal records can create barriers to long-term guardianship appointments. Find out how the
criminal record relief process works and what happens after you file.
