Do you have a beginning or struggling reader and want to learn how to best support them this summer? Join EPL and Tisha Rajendra, founder of Nutshell Literacy, to learn some simple, proven and FUN techniques for supporting your child's reading: word chains, blending, and buddy reading. We will also include information on how to spot a struggling reader
This session is only for parents/guardians of readers between 5-7 years of age.

Tisha Rajendra is an Evanston-based literacy tutor who applies her training as a linguist to evidence-based reading, writing and spelling instruction. She is also Associate Professor of Christian Ethics at Loyola University Chicago, where she teaches a service-learning class titled "Literacy and Social Justice. Tisha lives in Evanston with her spouse, nine-year-old twins and a new puppy.
The Robert Crown Branch Library, located inside the Robert Crown Community Center, was opened in early 2020 to extend library services out into walking distance of some of Evanston's most diverse and historically underserved neighborhoods. The branch features a computer bar, laptop loaning, study rooms and a community meeting room, an expanded Spanish-language collection and bilingual staff, an outdoor reading garden, and dozens of programs each month for children, teens and adults.
