Learn to grow vegetables, fruits and flowers without needing outdoor space!
Don't have the outdoor space to plant in-ground or construct a raised bed garden? Container gardening can produce an abundance of vegetables, fruits and ornamental plants and flowers. Topics reviewed: what can be grown in containers, soil-free mix, selecting containers, how to select the correct pot size, drainage, fertilizing and watering. Participants will be able to take home their own herb container garden as well!

This program is brought to you in partnership with Evanston Grows. Our speaker, Jocelyn Mallard, is a certified University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener. With over 10 years of community gardening experience, she puts her skills and knowledge to use volunteering for Evanston Grows (EG). EG active role in reducing food insecurity by providing “locally grown produce, nutrition education and building community connections” aligns with her beliefs that good nutrition promotes better health, and every person should have access to quality food. Jocelyn also collaborates with local organizations providing youth and adults gardening workshops.
