Color, cut, glue and stamp your way to a creative Kwanzaa*!
Habari gani? What's the news?
Join the Evanston community in celebrating this seven-day holiday which honors the African heritage of many Americans by making related crafts using our provided zawadi* craft kits!
The craft kits are best for children aged 5 and up.
Kits are available to Evanston children and/or District 65 students for pick-up at the Main and Robert Crown Library locations, starting December 18, while supplies last. Each child may choose from one of three craft kits to take home- A Mkeka mat, a paper bead bracelet or stamps to create your own Adinkra printing!
Vulnerable patrons may request kit pickup from the Main Library's back parking lot by phoning the Early Literacy & Learning Department at 847.448.8610 upon their arrival. Click here to see current library hours.
And be sure to check out Fleetwood-Jourdain's livestream Kwanzaa event on December 26, starting at noon via Youtube or Facebook, as well as videos created by Evanston families highlighting the seven Kwanzaa principles, or Nguzo Saba, each day!
If you have questions regarding the kits, please send an email to Carmen (cfrancellno@cityofevanston.org).
