This is a 2 part event. The first part is learning to code music in TunePad (It's like Garage Band). The second part is having your coded creations played back to you by a live band and or performing your own original content in the open mic section of the event.
PRIZES
$50 to the best beat/music composition of the night
$50 to the best poem/16 bar verse of the night.
Event Schedule
5:30 PM to 6:30 PM: Learn to code and compose
6:30 PM to 7:30 PM: Live playback with the band and open mic.
This event is for 6 through 12 graders only.

To explore the intersection of digital/programmed music and organic/live music.
To show how art can be inspirational
To showcase active listening and collaboration
To provide rising artist an opportunity to explore, grow, and showcase their taleent in a safe and constructive environment.
To provide an opportunity for youth to work with, observe, and learn from professional musicians and tech artists.
REGARDING THE MUSIC THE BAND PLAYS
When the band plays the music students have composed at the event. Please keep in mind that this is impromptu and Improvised music making. The musicians will not have scores or charts. They will play what they hear or interpret as intention. They are also encouraged to begin with what they hear and evolve it to show possible tangents or evolutions of the initial composition or musical idea.
