Evanston Memory Cafe
The Evanston Memory Cafe is an enrichment opportunity for people with dementia and their care partners. In partnership with Services for Adults Staying in Their Homes (SASI) and funded in part by AgeOptions, we welcome the North Shore Village and Ada Kahn for this months music program, Music Mends Minds.
Ada P. Kahn, Ph.D., a NSV member, will speak about and demonstrate how the power of music and singing can help improve the lives of people with neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson’s and others. Music not only lifts the spirits but also can alter brain chemistry.
This interactive session will include some singing and sharing small hand-held instruments provided by the speaker.
Kahn is the author of Keeping the Beat: Healthy Aging Through Chamber Music Playing.
A copy of her book will be given to each participant!
