Stop by the Crown Branch Library for an up-close look at the magic of metamorphosis!
You'll be able to check out the live animal display of Painted Lady insects during various stages of their life cycle, learn more about the Pollinator Pledge, and discover which butterflies are native to Evanston.
Plus, pick up materials to make a simple butterfly sun catcher. You can either take-and-make the craft to complete at home (you'll need to supply colored pencils and scissors), or take the craft outdoors to complete in the Crown Branch Library Reading Garden.
The Robert Crown Branch Library, located inside the Robert Crown Community Center, was opened in early 2020 to extend library services out into walking distance of some of Evanston's most diverse and historically underserved neighborhoods. The branch features a computer bar, laptop loaning, study rooms and a community meeting room, an expanded Spanish-language collection and bilingual staff, an outdoor reading garden, and dozens of programs each month for children, teens and adults.
