Did you know that Martin Luther King Jr. Day is the National Day of Service? If you're looking for a meaningful community service opportunity to make change and give back, check out the Evanston Public Library.
Join us in the Community Meeting Room, Main Branch from 2-5pm (to register for the 10am-1pm session, click here) to help create reusable sanitary pads for the Girls 4 Girls Ghana organization. More than 20% of girls in Ghana miss school due to lack of supplies for menstrual cycles. All materials will be provided, including scissors and sewing equipment. There are a lot of jobs for everyone, but sewers are also strongly encouraged to attend! Feel free to bring your own sewing machine. For grades 5th-12th and adults.
Not in this age group? There are still other fun activities to get involved! Kids in 1st-4th grade can head over to the Children's Art Garden. Check out the morning or the afternoon session!
If you can't make it, no worries, we welcome people to stop by and show their care with donations of underwear and sanitary napkins. Donations are welcomed from now till MLK Day.
