¡Acompañe a la Biblioteca Pública de Evanston para una Noche de Juegos para Familias en celebración del Mes de la Herencia Hispana! Esta noche de juegos será el viernes, 27 de septiembre, de 6:00pm a 8:00pm. ¡Venga y disfrute de la comida de algunos de restaurantes hispanos/latinos y participe en competencias de trivia!
Este año nos acompañará una invitada especial: Xelena González! Xelena practica las artes curativas a través de la escritura y el movimiento. Es narradora, bailarina y autora invitada que centra sus talleres multidisciplinares para todas las edades en el amor propio. Entre sus libros ilustrados se encuentran los galardonados ALL AROUND US (Cinco Puntos Press, 2017), WHERE WONDER GROWS (Lee & Low, 2022) y REMEMBERING (Simon & Schuster, 2023). Sus obras para adultos incluyen poesía, ensayo, ficción y guión. LOTERIA REMEDIOS es su colección de reflexiones, adivinaciones, medicina vegetal y animal, y otras herramientas para la autocuración basadas en el juego consagrado (Hay House, julio de 2024). Xelena, anteriormente una bibliotecaria y miembro inscrito de la nación coahuilteca Tap Pilam, se ha convertido en una conferenciante muy solicitada sobre temas como el amor propio radical, las estrategias creativas de alfabetización temprana, cómo habitar la historia a través de la música y el movimiento, y cómo reclamar la identidad indígena en las comunidades latinas.

Join the Evanston Public Library for Hispanic Family Game Night in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month! This Game Night will be on Friday, September 27 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Come and enjoy food from some of Hispanic/Latino-owned restaurants and participate in family-friendly competitions of trivia!
This year, we will have a special host joining us: Xelena González! Xelena practices the healing arts through writing and movement. She is a storyteller, dancer, and visiting author who centers self-love in her multi-disciplinary workshops for all ages. Her picture books include the award-winning titles ALL AROUND US (Cinco Puntos Press, 2017), WHERE WONDER GROWS (Lee & Low, 2022), and REMEMBERING (Simon & Schuster, 2023). Her writing for adults includes poetry, essays, fiction, and screenwriting. LOTERIA REMEDIOS is her collection of reflections, divinations, plant and animal medicine, and other tools for self-healing based on the time-honored game (Hay House, July 2024). A former librarian and enrolled member of the Tap Pilam Coahuiltecan Nation, Xelena has become a sought-after speaker on topics such as radical self love, creative early literacy strategies, inhabiting story through music and movement, and reclaiming indigenous identity in Latinx communities.
This will be a night in celebration of Hispanic culture and heritage!
