Look at and vote on the art in Caldecott winners! This online version of our popular Caldecott Club allows kids to vote and choose a favorite! Which book will win? Kids have all month to vote.
Our popular Caldecott Club program receives a virtual classic family spin this summer. Registrants will look at the art in books that received past Caldecott recognition and choose their favorites. The process will be easy and fun. On the first of each month (June, July, August) participants will be sent an email from children's librarian (and 2017 Caldecott committee member) Mr. Brian. In this email will be a list of the 3 books contending that month. These books will be available as ebooks on Hoopla and links will be provided. Plus there will be videos and information about the illustrators included.
Participants will have until the 30th of each month to have their parents/caregivers email the kids' #1 choice (with a reason why) to Mr. Brian. Mr. Brian will collect comments (please include them in the email) about the books from each participant and share them with the group.
The winners of each month will have a final showdown in September--kids will pick the ultimate winner! Recommended for Grades 1 to 6, but every child in each family can vote. Participants are also encouraged to take photographs of their art inspired by the books!
Registration begins May 18 at 9am. Once registered you will be registered for the entire summer. Please email Mr. Brian at bwilson@cityofevanston.org if you have any questions.
