No issue has dominated the news during the last year and a half like the nature of policing. Are police abuses endemic to the system? What are the realistic prospects for reform?
Join us for this non-credit, no-charge single-session mini-course on the issues involved with police reform. It will be taught by Prof. emeritus Wesley Skogan of Northwestern's Department of Political Science and Institute for Policy Research. Prof. Skogan is the author of numerous books on policing with an emphasis on Chicago. A reading list along with selected readings will be provided in advance. The class will take place on Zoom. We will seek to answer the questions above, in addition: Are reform measures politically possible? Will (enough of) the public actually support them?
