"Never take broken for an answer" Following the Ifixit motto, the Repair Café Volunteers will do their best to bring your beloved items back to life... with your help!
So, what is this all about?
Repair Café's are free meeting space where people fix things together. Besides the obvious money saving, RC's have multiple benefits, from keeping stuff out of the landfill, to promoting collaboration, skill-sharing and community self-reliance, as well as supporting Evanston's Climate Action and Resilience Plan, just to name a few.
If you are curious about this, we recommend that you head down to your basement, closet or storage area and pick that thing that has been there for ages, but which you could not bring yourself to throw away (remember, there is no "away"!).
Next, SIGN UP TO ONE time slot that matches the type or repair you need. To allow for others to participate, we request that you bring items belonging only to the category you sign up for. The Repair volunteer will try to fix them and/or diagnose and recommend next steps and spare parts.
If you already know what is wrong with your item, bring any necessary spare parts to maximize the chances of getting it repaired!
These are the repair categories available at this Repair event:

The Robert Crown Branch Library, located inside the Robert Crown Community Center, was opened in early 2020 to extend library services out into walking distance of some of Evanston's most diverse and historically underserved neighborhoods. The branch features a computer bar, laptop loaning, study rooms and a community meeting room, an expanded Spanish-language collection and bilingual staff, an outdoor reading garden, and dozens of programs each month for children, teens and adults.
