National expert Carol McGruder, Co-Chair of the African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council will share the latest tobacco industry tactics for dodging regulation and expanding its markets.
After the sweeping defeats Big Tobacco faced in the 1990s, the industry has adapted its tactics to continue targeting youth and communities of color to initiate smoking to ensure a new generation of lifelong customers
Local anti-tobacco advocates will share results of a recent study demonstrating how these national trends are playing out in Evanston and are working to unravel our hard-fought progress on reducing tobacco dependency. Conversation will follow about what our community can do to protect our health.
