Learn how to help your lawn thrive naturally.
As spring progresses you might be looking at your lawn and wondering how you can make it better, and what you might substitute for plain old rye and Kentucky bluegrass.
This program will give you ideas on how you can create an environmentally safe yard for your family, pets and our planet.
Our speakers will be Moshe Pinargote, a horticulturist at Greenwise Organic Lawncare, and Andy Lewis, Greenwise’s turf care manager.
Moshe has over 19 years experience as a horticulturist and lead gardener at the Chicago Botanic Gardens, and has taught classes on trees, shrubs and annuals. He will talk about using natives and will provide ideas for plants that can be used instead of turf grass. He also encourages the use of locally sourced supplies, which mean less pollution and a reduced greenhouse effect on the environment.
Andy, Greenwise’s turf expert with more than 7 years first hand experience, will describe safe and effective organic and all-natural products you can use to improve your lawn’s health and appearance. He’ll provide guidance on what tools homeowners can use to ensure their lawn thrives organically and naturally. A healthy lawn uses less water and doesn’t require chemicals to look great so you’ll be saving time and money and contributing to a greener planet.
Please join us in the Community Room of the Main Library on Wednesday evening, May 4 from 7-8:15. There will be time for questions and answers following the presentation.
