Let's learn why winter sowing makes sense in our cold climate by creating our own mini greenhouse. Supplies will be provided - bring your curiosity and gardening gloves!
Winter sowing is a way of season extension for gardeners who live in colder climates where the ground may be frozen for many months. In this workshop, Leslie Shad from Natural Habitat Evanston and Allison Sloan from Shady Grove will share with us how to create our own mini greenhouse, as well as provide us with expert tips and tricks on how to make our seeds sprout successfully in the Spring.
Supplies and a wide variety of seeds to choose from will be provided - just bring your gardening gloves!
The Robert Crown Branch Library, located inside the Robert Crown Community Center, was opened in early 2020 to extend library services out into walking distance of some of Evanston's most diverse and historically underserved neighborhoods. The branch features a computer bar, laptop loaning, study rooms and a community meeting room, an expanded Spanish-language collection and bilingual staff, an outdoor reading garden, and dozens of programs each month for children, teens and adults.
