ABOUT THE BOOK:
River of Blood: American Slavery from the People Who Lived It highlights short narratives and photographs of formerly enslaved African Americans. These narratives are excerpts from the compilation of interviews done in the late 1930s as part of the WPA known as the Slave Narratives.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:
Dino Robinson is the founder of Shorefront Legacy Center, which documents the history of Evanston’s Black community, and is the Production Manager of Northwestern University Press.
Adam Green is a history professor at the University of Chicago and author of Selling the Race: Culture and Community in Black Chicago. He is a resident of Evanston.
Celeste Williams is an actress who has appeared at the Goodman, Victory Gardens, Steppenwolf, Northlight, Court and Chicago Shakespeare. She teaches theater at Columbia College Chicago.
Richard Cahan and Michael Williams have written more than a dozen award-winning books including Aftershock: The Human Toll of War and Revolution in Black and White: Photographs of the Civil Rights Era by Ernest C. Withers. They own CityFiles Press.
