Make some noise! This workshop will show you how to use TunePad to add your own unique sound effects/music to your game and connect a speaker to the Circuit Playground Express. Registration Required.
You can program the Circuit Playground to make a variety of sounds and even music, but it doesn't sound very good coming from the built-in speaker. Participants will learn how to create their own music and sound effects using TunePad and coding with python. Participants will also learn how to wire an external speaker to their Circuit Playground Express and the basics for programming it to make sound effects and music. Grades 5-8. Registration required.

Cardboard Carnival is a partnership between the Evanston Public Library and EvanSTEM.
Funding provided by the Illinois State Library - Project Next Generation Grant.
Evanston Public Library, District 65, and our partners are committed to creating safe and welcoming spaces, programs, and services for all Evanston youth. Just like Evanston youth, the staff who work on the Citywide STEM challenges come from a variety of races, cultures, experiences, sexual orientation, and gender identities. By being intentional with our staffing and program structure we hope that youth see themselves reflected and feel supported when they take part.
The Robert Crown Branch Library, located inside the Robert Crown Community Center, was opened in early 2020 to extend library services out into walking distance of some of Evanston's most diverse and historically underserved neighborhoods. The branch features a computer bar, laptop loaning, study rooms and a community meeting room, an expanded Spanish-language collection and bilingual staff, an outdoor reading garden, and dozens of programs each month for children, teens and adults.
