The Evanston-In School Music Association (EISMA) presents Piraguas y Piropos, a latin music trio that performs the traditional music of farmers and country people of Puerto Rico called Jibaro.
This music originated from the blending of indigenous music with music from Africa and Spain. The ensemble performs with the Puerto Rican cuatro, the guitar, the güiro, bongos and incorporates jazz elements for an exciting listener experience.
The trio just completed its EISMA concerts of all District 65 grade and middle schools, performing its Jibaro repertoire and sharing the elements of Puerto Rican music culture. We invite the Evanston community, families and global music enthusiasts to enjoy this FREE cultural music experience performed by incredible musicians at the Evanston Public Library.
