Find out what you can do to help ensure the safety of birds in our area.
After hearing about the massive bird deaths that occured at McCormick Place this fall, perhaps you're wondering what you can do to help birds. This session will provide an opportunity to learn how you can help, and also hear about what organizations in the Chicago area are doing to make Chicago and Evanston a more bird friendly place.
Join representatives from the Illinois Environmental Council (IEC), The Chicago Bird Collision Monitors, Bird Friendly Chicago, and The Evanston North Shore Bird Club for a session discussing bird collisions and the work CBCM and Bird Friendly Chicago are doing to ensure bird safety in the Chicago region. Annette Prince, Director of CBCM and a member of Bird Friendly Chicago will speak about their recent successes as well as the ongoing need for public involvement to support bird friendly initiatives. Sergio Vargas, Chicagoland Conservation Manager for IEC will present on his organization's work in advancing conservation goals in the state, and how we can continue to incorporate policies and legislative goals to further protect birds and their habitats.
Light refreshments will be served.
