Calling all middle schoolers, The Sew It Challenge is open to all D65 students and Evanston residents in 5th-8th grade. The Challenge is simple, join us for 8 workshops to learn the basics to machine sewing. We will provide you with all of the supplies. No experience is required. Never used a sewing machine before, thinking about sewing a button, making a plush animal, or cosplay costumes, we’ve got you covered. For 8 weeks, we will be holding workshops from 4-5:30pm to teach you everything you need to begin your sewing journey. At the end, complete our final project reusable maxi-pads that will be sent to an organization called Girls 4 Girls Ghana to help fight period poverty. Did you know that girls in Ghana and other parts of the world miss 20% of school due to not having menstrual supplies. Join the Challenge today for a chance to win cool prizes. The Sew It workshops will take place for 8 weeks at the Main library on the 3rd floor in the Innovation Station on Tuesday's and Thursday's. Register to be apart of the Tuesday group or Thursday group. Participants cannot switch between groups. EPL will do its best to accommodate request.
